Unfortunately for me, I lack creativity. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do with this beginning of a layout to make it more exciting? I ahve little or no content in there yet.
I am also basically a newbie...just a hare above that, so please keep your suggestions on the beginning end of the spectrum. Thanks so much!! :)

Without much content beyond a series of family pictures (for which Flickr would've sufficed nicely) it very hard to "design" or "lay out" anything.
Start with a clear goal: do you have a -future- purpose for your site, beyond having a site? Would you like to write about things you're interested in? Share information?

I agree with Ronald ...
Put all your personal and family photos on "Flickr" and leave the webpage for something that would be of interest to the world.
(not to say you and your family aren't of interest ... but you know what I mean)
Even a blog would be more interesting.
If you have a hobby, career, or special interest that would offer some valuable information to someone else ... THAT'S what your website should be.
-- my opinion anyhow --
