Restricted Registry values

Is there a way to delete a registry value thats restricted?

Boot in safemode and log in as admin? That's my guess.

Usually you'd just need to change the security permissions on it (try right clicking on the key) but a better question would be why are trying to delete a restricted registry value? More than likely it is that way for a reason.
