View Full Version : Professional (and honest) criticism please

Hey guys (and gals perhaps),
I've been holding this one off for as long as possible as I wanted to make sure the design was solid. It still has some issues which I'm resolving over time, yes, the stylesheet is quite nasty at the moment, I haven't structured it correctly and there's some redundant code in there.
It's using Wordpress as you may have noticed, I've also got to implement some other features as well, but yeh, check it out
I'd prefer some decent comments, no pun intended it's just I've seen some pointless unjustified comments posted in some threads before :)
Also, could people please tell me if the site is centered. in IE6 and FF it centers fine, but some people have said it doesn't.

No-one at all?

Decent graphics. On the reply pages the comment box is a bit too large, it spills out of the container. I like the colors. The pinkish links don't do anything for me though. They seem out of place.

The site looks great, centered for me, but it goes the hell once images are turned off. That should be addressed because a lot of people browse with images off to save bandwidth and load time. An image replacement technique (http://www.mezzoblue.com/tests/revised-image-replacement/) should be used on the banner.
Since you don't include the sidebar on your post pages (most don't), you should use the WP widecolumn class.
Since it's a WP blog, you might also want to get reviews at the WordPress Themes Forum (http://wordpress.org/tags/theme)
The CSS (looks lean to me) is invalid due to too many margin-left values on wrapper, though I don't see any (and margin : 0 auto; is fine), but maybe the problem is really from container where you have margin-left : auto and margin right : auto, which might be better served with margin : auto;
Great graphics, the look is awesome.

Cheers for a decent response, I'll have to tend to those thoughts when I've got some time, I'm hoping to make it perfect in all aspects so I should get to work on that when I've got some time, cheers Green Beast :)

Lays out just fine for me (wxp home/ie6/ff/opera/1024x768)
--comment box is too wide
--alignment on "New Interviews Up"/"MCC Site Now Running" comments page is way off to the left
--image "band" missing from Hotfast Union Interview
--I think I would go with a darker red for the links
--archive page...in the right column it says "You are currently ... weblog for ." - doesn't say for what which I would assume is November 2005 since that was the only archive link
Although I didn't go in and review the code I did happen to read almost all of the content and I didn't come across any bad spelling or bad grammar - a few bad words in the Discharge interview...*chuckles*

Yeh, I didn't put the interviews up, I wrote the posts and fixed the bio's for the individuals. The site eventually won't be maintained by me once they learn how to use WordPress :)
Cheers for that though, I'm making a list, and checking it twice, finding out what's naughty and nice :p
