Capturing Stills From a DVD

I have a DVD recording of me skydiving and I want to capture still shots (jpg or gif) from the DVD.

How the hell do I do this. I tried for hours last night and as soon as I closed the video footage the image dissappeared.

Is there specific software that I can use to do this?

I was watching it in both Media Player and WinDVD

FRAPS WORKS. It worked viewing the DVD in WINDVD, didnt try media player.

Turn off Hardware Acceleration and you can grab a "Print Screen"
