CSS2 browsersASAAKI 10-01-2002, 06:59 PM silly question, but ... do all browsers support CSS2? Bosko 10-01-2002, 07:19 PM Ofcourse not. Mozilla has the best support for CSS2 (hell,Mozilla even supports some CSS3 properties). jkd 10-01-2002, 07:30 PM Internet Explorer 6/Windows has decent support for CSS2 properties, but is missing support for the more powerful ones. And it is completely lacking in the CSS2 Selectors. Internet Explorer 5/Mac, on the other hand, is only bested by Mozilla. :) Opera 6 also beats out IE6/Win in terms of selectors and some properties. ASAAKI 10-01-2002, 11:54 PM Originally posted by jkd Opera 6 also beats out IE6/Win in terms of selectors and some properties. er...selectors? jkd 10-02-2002, 01:46 AM tr:not(:first-child) > td > .aclass + span { /* bla */ } Is an example of selector consisting of numerous simple selectors. Only Mozilla supports the CSS3 :not pseudo class currently. IE6/Win only supports tag name selectors, class selectors, id selectors, the descendant selector, and a few pseudo-classes on links - which is severely lacking. ASAAKI 10-02-2002, 01:57 AM u know what....i think my foothold on planet ie is juuust beginning to loosen a wee bit ... ;) Bosko 10-02-2002, 08:17 PM Take a look at these pages for more about CSS selectors and which browsers support them: (Note that Mozilla has the best support,as you can see at the Quick compatibility table at CSS tests (http://www.xs4all.nl/~ppk/css2tests/:): 1 Mozilla: 38.5 points 2 Konqueror: 30 points 3 Opera 5 & 6: 29.5 points 4 Explorer 5 Mac: 28 points) http://www.xs4all.nl/~ppk/css2tests/ http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/selector.html http://penguin.theopalgroup.com/cgi-bin/css3explainer/selectoracle.py |
