This has been a problem for me from day one of setting up my home network. Whenever I download something off the internet it NEVER seems to go above 50kbps which is pure bollocks because my brother gets on average 600kbps+ ive even seen him get above 1 meg download speeds, and heres the thing that blows my mind. He is further away from the router than I am, his computer is FAR less powerful than mine, and his line speed is only 10mbps half duplex, Where as I am about 10 feet (cord length) from the router, am using an Intel Pro 100/s NIC at 100mbps full duplex and my computer is eaisly 5x as powerful as his. I have no idea how hes getting such fast speeds....I have comcast cable which I think now is up to something like 8mbps or so they advertise. Do you guys have any idea how I can improve my speeds because this is a real bummer to pay 50 bucks a month to get slow download speeds like this.
