Call me crazy...but I remember being able to opening the same document two times in photoshop. I usually need to do this when extracting an image from a background. Using a tool on one document would update both documents so I would zoom in on one canvas of the document....and keep the other at 100% to keep track how my changes are affecting the original document. But now can't remember how I would open the same document twice. When I try to do it now....it just shifts focus to the document that is already open in photoshop.
Any comments?

I believe its the navigator that you want. Click on the Window menu then click on navigator. You should get a box that has the image in it, you can soom it and have the navigator and actual image side by side.

Open original document then rightclick on the menubar of the document and duplicate

The command you want is View-->New View
This will open a second view of the same image which you can zoom in on and make changes to while the other view will reflect any changes you make to the new view (and vice versa).

Yeah I think Hyperbole is the closest to what I wanted. But in CS2 its Window>Arrange>New Window for current document.
This way, you can work on one document and effects take affect on both. So zoom in as far as you want on one and keep the other 100% and extract what you want.
FYI. You can also use the Navigator as _Aero suggested but I wanted something bigger than the navigator window.

Good option....Graphic Designers and artist using Photoshop not aware of many options and they even not bother to lookin it or ask some one for help.I myself do not know this option is existing. Whatever I know I have been playing around with. Basically Iam a cartoonist. Some times I have to add small details to the minature pictures. Till the date for this purpose I was dependent on navigator in photoshop. I discovered new option through CodingFoums. Thanks for this reply!
