Hi,

I have been having problems with my braodband router.

There are 4 self-diagnostics that can be performed by the router, other than a ping test, as follows (together with the results for my particular router - a D-Link DSL-504T):

OAM Test F5 end-to-end: sometimes passes, sometimes fails.
OAM Test F5 seg-to-seg: always passes.
OAM Test F4 end-to-end: always fails.
OAM Test F4 seg-to-seg: always fails.

This is obviously means something! I have done a Google search to find out what these tests are for and I have found loads of pages which describe, in detail, how to perform these tests on other network equipment, but I can find nothing that describes, quite simply, exactly what these tests actually ARE and what they test FOR!!! Can anyone tell me???

Thanks,
Mike.

Isn't it a Operation, Administration & Maintenance test? I think they just test to see if the router is functioning correctly.
