creating a pattern in Photoshop 7.0?

I would like to set the background of my image to the same background that my webpage is. I have a .gif file of the background image I am using for my webpage, and I am wondering who I can convert it to a .PAT file in Photoshop?

to create patterns in PS:
edit>define pattern

to manage the files more explicitly...:
edit>preset manager

does this help?
