Every so often my computer will make a really bad low pitched noise - often vibrates too.
It definately sounds like it's coming from the PSU, and just randomly happens - not when doing anything demanding or anything. After a turn off and turn on again it's back to normal.
Any ideas what's up with it? Should I get a new one?

Well is the computer powering off or anything? If it's *definatly* coming from the PSU, then get a new one to be safe ;)

It's not powering off or anything, just randomly makes bad noises! I think I will get a new one shortly just to be on the safe side! ;)
Are you sure those noises are coming from the PSU and not the HDD or some other IDE device? Low sounding noises can be a HDD dying...just make sure you know what it is before you spend the scratch on a new peice of hardware. :D

That sound would be the bearings on the fan at the back of the PSU. You can expect the fan to fail soon if it hasn't already. The simplest fix would be to replace the PSU. Replacing the fan would mean opening the PSU which would expose you to the high voltages stored in the capacitors within the unit (that could give you a nasty shock even though the supply is completely disconnected.

Not had the case open but definately sounds like it's coming from the PSU - highly doubt it's from the HD, Exis, as it's fairly new - well, I bloody well hope it's not that!
I think I'll open the case and have a gander when it does it again, and when I feel like it, just to double check it's the PSU before spending! Don't like opening my computer up though! :)
