Search Engin?

I would like to add a search mechanism to my site. My pages are all hand coded in CSS, and they validate. Could somebody direct me as to where I might get information on adding such an apparatus?

I think the big search-engines like google and yahoo offer such a service ("searchword site:http://www.example.de")

Do you use semantic correct markup? that would enhance the search results.
