i am still an idiot.

cannot fathom how to build my comparison engine

(i want people to be able to compare loans on a website by entering in the details and then my database filters the availabile products)

http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp should get you started. Without knowing anything about your data or code I cant do much more ;)

basically i am looking to create a database to compare financial products (loans).

i want to be able to manually enter in the loan rates and criteria through my browser into the database.

once this database is built i will not change the fields only loan rates and criteria.

sorry for being such a schnook.

i think this may be the answer, but i would rather buy something out of the box so that i have the support

this is what i need the script for:

quickcompare.co.uk/find-loans.asp

everything that does is what i need. all i will need to change are the loan rates and maybe add or remove lenders.
