I'm veiwing in Mozilla.

you should bump the font size up some in the main content area. On the candy pink style I can read it. On the black style the itty bitty white text is a blur almost. On the default stle it's just small. Real small.

The contant needs more padding/margin. On the projects page the words/pics are crammed to the sides of the container.

I'd say the grey text is too light on the shout box but it might because it's so small.

the shout box input area isn't lined up correctly.

so far overall there isn't enough contrast between the text/background/images and the small type is killing me.

whats up with the bottom border under the link 'about 7designs' in your navigation?

The pink style is the easiest for me to look at but not by much.

thank you :) cuz every time i ask someone they say its good! but thats not good enough for me i want someone to catch the bad stuff too so i can fix it you know :P

and i talked to one of my friends (he's a pro in coding/web design) and he said in the content it would look better if it was small text but i guess i could pull up an extra 2 points in size,,,

and i removed the border under the (about 7designs) lol,, thanx :P

any one else i would appreciate the replays :D

Cool site but...
To view all of the messages in the shoutbox you need to highlight the text and the scroll up or down.

I like the styleswitcher idea, but the design is just too small, unsemantic - uses tables etc.

whats the problem with using tables?

i see it as the most effective way! what other way will u do it in!?

any by the way the address for the site is now www.7des.com instead of www.7des.com/V6

It is not the most effective way. It bloats your code. Loosing the tables will probably save you 20%.

Real web developers don't use tables, if you haven't already noticed this, then i'm afraid ;)

CSS and XHTML is where it's at.

don't want to make it more complecated by showin the shoutbox files and the navagation files but this is the gist of it! :)

Tables are for showing things you'd actually see in a table, like a calendar or a table of sports scores. What you've done is exploit the functionality of tables to place your site's content where you want it in the viewport. The proper way to do this is to use Cascading StyleSheets (CSS). You should read up on it and proper use of semantic HTML if you really want to get into Web design. You'll be doing it one day or another (guaranteed) so you'd might as well start now :)

hummm but that means redesigning the whole site for it to look the same,,, the thing is i like tables because i put a table inside a table inside a table,, so they allign perfectly and look very very clean you know! and the top of the content boxes is a <tr> devided into three <td>s ,, i don't know how to put this in,, but i guess i got used to it lol,,,

i guess it dosn't matter how you get there as long as you are there! :P

i like to use tables most of the time to it's just faster to me. even tho it may be wrong to use them in that way.

am not one for making my code all neat and in the right order as long as i know what i did and where to find serten parts i don't care that blah blah should not be there or it should be like this.

who cares as long as there are no errors and it does not effect the load time.

I would carefully rethink that sentence... :)

Lyconpire

errors as in the ones that have the little error icon in IE and load time as in by mins not secs

Hows that?

or should i just save my self a big long debate on how people should make there websites and why your way is the right way? I should just take it all back lol and just agree like a good sheep ;)

mark87

Errors as in validation errors. http://validator.w3.org/

The load time is greatly reduced in CSS - this is because an external stylesheet is cached by the browser. Once the stylesheet has downloaded for your first page, when they come to view the second page, they only have to download the HTML of that page.

You don't have to listen to what the majority say, but we only say it to help you best in the long run. I am currently looking for a job in IT and nearly all adverts I've seen for web developers/designers mention the fact that the person needs to comply with W3C standards and accessibility. :)

am just sat in the server room not doing anything so am just going to post a load of bull have fun reading it. here we gooooooo

you know you dont have to always make money off the internet some people do web designing as a hobby and offer there skills for free to small companys.

but then agian money can buy happiness

like a said load time in mins not secs am sure tables dont effect the load time by mins and css may take off a few 0.1 secs and maybe the dailup thing people still use out there may love you for them few secs. but if your making a site as a hobby and it dont effect you then i quote my self who cares.

thats my point of view any way and we all have our own so no offance to the css people dailup people or Money making people out there ANY ONE ELSE I MAY HAVE UPSET NO OFFANCE TO YOU TO.

please forward any issues to offance@lyconpire.com

okay assuming that i won't use tables next time....

what should i use ?

and don't just say CSS because my site is BASED on the multiple css sheets i have,, so gimme some detail of what i would exactly do,, and look at the first page of this thread and you will see what my cascading style sheet look like
