Hey All,

Does anyone know of an image-based dropdown menu that can easily be used? It would stretch vertically down the left side of the page .. where I could hopefully just plug in the sliced images ..

I'm in a bit of a pinch, so any help asap would be hugely appreciated ..

Thanks!

HVMenu (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/hvmenu/)can use images instead of text.

But if the site is at all commercial it is illegal to use them. Keep that in mind.

Menu status clarified- HV menu found on Dynamic Drive may be used on both commerical and non commerical sites.

You don't need goddamn js to do this, just some css

I don't believe the last one does images though .. especially on rollover ..

It'd be simply to apply a background to each list item. Tedious, but possibly.

And as it was said, you don't need Javascript to make this. Just to get it to work in browsers that don't support :hover on non-anchor elements.

While you don't need JS to make a menu, you do need JS to make one which approaches decent usability. Without things like open/close timers and dynamic repositioning, menus are very difficult to use.

I'd recommend, er, my own - http://www.udm4.com/demos/other-imagenav.php [it can be used on commercial websites, but it's not free]

You still need js for MSIE, unfortunately, since it doesn't support :hover on non-anchor elements yet.

"A tiny jot of JavaScript is required to kick IE back into action (line wraps marked Ed.):"

I can't wait until it does...PITA browser.
