help with copying files from windows 98 pc

Can someone help me??

I have a problem and cannot figure out how to solve it.

I have an old Windows 98 machine and I need to copy the My Documents folder, which has about 100 photos, from the machine to an outside source like a zip drive.

The problem is that the machine is so screwed up that it will not recognize the CD Rom, the USB ports or a network card that I put on the machine.

When you go into Control Panel>System>Device Manager, there is nothing listed - just a question mark with "Other Device".

So I can't hook up my 250 USB zip drive to copy out the folder, I can't get on the internet to upload the photos to a server I have or anything.

I have the Recovery Disk, but that will format the hard drive and thus erase all the photos.

Any suggestions how I can copy the photos (other than using a zillion floppy disks) to a source outside the pc??

do you have another comp ? take the Hard drive out , attach it to the other comp as a slave & copy away.

Just because the CD drive is messed up in windows does not mean that it is completely messed up. Download Knoppix (a bootable linux) and move the files that way.

The easiest way IMO is to just take the disk out of the pc and stick it into another, as FP said ;)
