Hi
For quite a while now I have bought a domain name from one company and had it pointed it to a website that I have hosted for free with another ISP.
This has worked out quite well and cheap as far as hobby sites go. However, for more commerical sites I've noticed that in search engines the domain name will have listed information about the name being owned by the company I bought it from, whereas my original isp address will have the text from my site in the google results list.
eg
website.co.uk
The website for website.co.uk can be found by clicking here. website.co.uk is registered through "domain company" etc.
website.freeisp.com
"text info from my site".....
Is this one of the disadvantages of the above practise or are there others also?
I'm keen to know what benefits there are with paying for webspace hosting and keeping it and the domain name all within one company.
Can anyone advise? Thanks
Paul
