Can I skip ASP?cgibie 08-09-2005, 05:19 AM Hi guys, is that Okay or reasonable to start studying ASP.Net without studying classic ASP? What are the good and bad things about that skipping? Thanks Roelf 08-09-2005, 10:01 PM Yep, it is okay to skip classic asp. Classic asp is more clear about requests and responses but asp.net gives you a lot more things you can use which you should have developed in classic asp yourself. miranda 08-11-2005, 03:36 PM As Roelf says it is entirely possible to skip classic ASP. However, if you plan to work as a developer bear in mind that there are many applications out there that are written in classic ASP and if you ever need to add to one of them it helps to know the syntax as well as what the limitations are. My employer for example has many applications written in classic ASP and I am always asked to go in and add or remove different items from them. To completely rewrite all of these in ASP.NET would be a tremendous waste of time. |
