The Meanings Of Header

I believe I have seen the word "header" used so many different ways in forums and tutorials, that I'm not sure I know the meanings. Is "header" used in different ways? I have seen it used to refer to the head of an html document, and in the heading tags. I think perhaps I have seen it used in other ways. Is there a main usage in programming?

This is probably an easy question to most people. I just seem to brain fart every time I see the word. Could someone enlignten me please?
