I wish to change .wav files to .wma (Windows Media Files) as wavs take up to much webspace on my server.

Does anyone know of any open source software that can do this.

Also does anyone know why some soundfiles open the full Windows Media player and some open the bar in the browser window.

All help much appreciated

dmpoweramp (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/) is free for the most part. It can convert wav to wma. About the sound files that open in the browser and the ones that open in WMP well that is a preference in your browser setting.

Can't WME [Windows Media Encoder] do it? I think Audacity can as well but I'm not too sure.

Thanks I already have audacity but this can only convert .wav to mp3

Where can I get Windows Media Encoder as Media Player help files do not mention it and is it open source?

Your better opting for high quality mp3's over wma files!
