Sporadic internet connection??

I am having big internet troubles right now. I can connect to the internet right now and every website. When I run a bandwidth test I got 2.3 mbps - which is good.

When I boot up a poker client, it connect and all is swell, except after 1-2 minutes I disconnect from the program. Sometimes it reconnects after a few minutes, other times it justs sit there. Other times it says cannot connect to the game server.

My AIM service quickly disconnects, displays "Connection lost...establishing connection" and then re-establishes the connection after 3 seconds.

What the heck is going on?!?

What can I do to fix this??

Where does this occur? At a university like in a dorm room or like at home in your own room?

How are you accessing the net? Through a router or usb modem? If you've got a LAN, how many computers are accessing the net at any one time?
