Hello. I'm new here. Please forgive me for not yet posting a review on another's site. I simply lack the time. I will at some point in that I feel strongly about participation in both directions as the Forum Rules stated.
Nevertheless, for my first post, I am looking for comments on a site I just built. It has gone live already I parked the domain on my DNS server yesterday and the thing propagated already.
In advance, thank you very much.

Well, I did give a review after all: http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?p=336047#post336047
I feel better. ;)

I really like the design and layout of this site! There's only one thing that I don't like, the background image.

I like the way you used different colours and imagery to create your site's overall image. Seems well done.
The code validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict, so that's good. I had a look at the HTML, and it looks reasonable...It would be a lot easier to read if it was indented, but that's me. You do use a LOT of DIVs in there, and I wonder if you might be able to get by with less...
But overall it looks good!

Lol, no doubt. I agree :)

i really like the site, but the background can do better.

I disagree the background works very well.

Yeah, I'm liking that
The background's not really working for me, at least at my 1280 x whatever resolution anyway - it kind of curves out towards me, then curves back in, then curves out again, sort of redolent of bum cheeks!
I'd just fade the background out and have the body background set to the last colour in the gradient (rather than having it repeat)
Also there's a strange smudge of airbrushed stuff in the sidebar background, looks pretty pointless, and like a mistake?
Other than that i think it's belting!
I think one thing that could really lift it and give it that extra touch of panache would be to use SIFR for your headings:
Sweet job there.

The bg doesn't repeat at 1204X768, but it does at1280X1204 (my res) and it's annoying.

Looks quite nice to me - I can't say I like the background 100% but the rest of the site looks pretty good. Code needs to be indented for it to be easier to read, but fine apart from that.

Love the leaves
Not so much with the background. But (besides the divs) your code looks good and as someone above said strict XHTML. Just change the background. It repeats at 1280x1024 for me.

Same comment as others regarding screen size, on 1280x1024 I get the background repeating.
Also, I am partially blind, and there doesn't seem to be enough contrast between your background colours and the h3 headings, but otherwise I love what you've done with your images. Very groovy.

very nice... aesthetically interesting.
the focus on accesability is really neat.
one thing.... your user settings have multiple options for style...
is there a reason your not linking them so that FF can swap styles in view>page style? I assume its prolly because theres more to the style switching u got goin on than just diff .css?
other than that, the footer P "Content Copyright © 1992-2005 T..."
could be positioned a bit i think.... right some and up? (nit-picking)
also... poo-poo copyright.... Creative Commons (http://creativecommons.org/) 4eva... but obviously this prolly doesnt fit your needs.

Thank you very much for all your comments. It seems a tweak or two may be in order. Especially as it concerns that one little thing common in this thread. The background! I agree, it needs work. It's my second, the first needed work too
Very busy right now, but once I get some time I'll address some of this stuff. I want to make more style sheets anyway. I only really have one optional one loaded in my style changer (found on the User Settings page) so it needs more anyway.
Especially one with better contrast so those who have difficulites with their vision aren't left behind.
Again, thanks. :)
