View Full Version : Same CSS - pages positioned differently
When accessing my website http://www.plainvanilla.se the first page is placed a bit higher than the rest of the pages. That is if you click on any menu-item the hole page moves down. After this - all the pages are positioned the same - even the first one. I get this effect in Internet Explorer (not in Netscape, Opera, Mozilla).
Would really appreciate some help - thanks in advance.

Looks like you fixed it....
Thanks for taking a look. It's still not fixed though - looks the same. When I go from another webpage it looks fine, but when I open a new browser window with my page http://www.plainvanilla.se as the default home page I get the "movement".
Not sure if it solves anything (or maybe the other way around destroys your page), but you have to fix your DTD first. You have only half of it.
This is what you have:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
This is what it should look like:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

The only reason that you would ever use half a DTD is if your site for whatever reason has valid code but looks wrong with the full DTD, as the half one keeps the browsers in quirks mode.
Yes, but anyways there's no ending ">" - the tag is not closed.
The reason for the half DTD is that I always seem to have problems with the Mac when using the 50% top 50% left for centering the whole page. If I keep the whole DTD the Mac-users can only see half of the page. Perhaps there is a better way to keep the pages in absolute center? Isn't it ok to remove the last part of the DTD?
