First of all, I have read through the XP Consultant...and alot of the IIS help guide.
I cannot seem to find specific directions for obtaining my DNS address. I don't think the have to use the DNS, maybe there is another way? I am trying to figure out how to set up what my URL will be on the net, so I can link with some other sites and so people can view my pages.
Second, I am completely new to IIS and also read that only 10 seperate queries to a site in IIS can be rendered at once. If that is true, is there another way to configure it so that more users can see the site at a single time? Maybe like something based on my bandwidth and disk space? Would I be better off using Win2000 Server? I have a copy of it, but didn't think it was neccecary if I was using IIS.
THanks any input on the matter!

I don't quite get what your saying. Are you trying to host your website from your computer that has Windows XP Professional on it?

As far as the 10 queries at once, that is all possible with the non-server version of IIS. I know from personal experience that with Windows 2000 Server you can have thousands of viewers at once on a peticular site. So it's probably that the IIS in WinXP Pro is tuned down (like it is in Win2k Pro). Because they assume if you are going to do anything more than beta testing or building a website, why would you need more connections?

I do want to host my site from my own computer. And I do have xp Pro. I guess your saying that I should do the 2000Server then. I just didn't want to get involved in that. I've never run a Serving OS before. But I don't have the money to pay for the kind of server space i need.

I guess I'll just use it for testing now, but I still can't figure out how to set up my DNS.

thanks again
