firstly disable any firewalls on your laptop, then make sure the drive you want to access has been shared....turn off password protection for your account on your laptop...When I networked Win2k and WinXP machines together at home it was easy :p
Also the only reason that your machine would be screaming "password incorrect" is because its been entered incorrectly ;)

All the firewalls are disabled and I am not putting the password in wrong.
Any more ideas?

try disabling the password...
Is the username you are using on the laptop registered as a user with sufficient priveledges in Windows XP - remember logging in can be denied as a permission even if the account is active.

Yes I am the administrator on the laptop that is running windows xp and I am the administrator of the pc running windows 2000.
