I am currently developing a large scale web based instant messenger application. Not something to connect to msn etc but a complete new network. Just as professional/functional as any of the leading IM applications around atm.
This is an unpaid project, im doing this around my school work etc. Ive got several years programming experience.
I am developing this application with PHP/CSS/Javascript/Mysql.
I have the main form of it together, with the backbone in place. Its an old project that ive left dormant for a while and im coming back to it determined to make it better this time.
Im looking for anyone at all with some experience who could help out a bit. Especially if you have some good experience in javascript/xml thats my weak spot in the project atm.
anyways, hope someone can help out a bit. full credit will be given.

email me if your interested.
Thanks a lot

Hmmm unfortunately per the rules (http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=36341) all requests must be paid in nature. There currently isn't a collaborations forum.
Due to this this thread may be deleted shortly.

i thought this would be ok to post, its not like im saying oh, IF i make money on this then you'll get some. Im stating that no money will change hands, not even to me. If this still doesnt fit, where CAN i post about this?

You've got to state a payment amount when you post it...its no good saying "if I make money then I'll pay you" because for all we know some developer might write you a pile of code for your website and you never make a penny so he has lost out financially :p

Dont people read posts? I thought it clearly stated unpaid in other words no money exchanging anyones hands. Anyway since I dont know the full rules on posting here you can take my words with a grain of salt.

Firstly, I can understand your frustration.
Secondly, sorry if I sound cheeky but it's Friday so, I'll send your question back to you. :p
What, exactly, is not explained both in WA's post and in point 1 of the page to which he linked? I (sort of), bend the rules as much as anyone but, they are there for a reason. It is the result of these rules that makes the help forums very, well, helpful. :)
I been there myself - I know frustration. So I would suggest this for you. Where you are not au fait with a specific language, search through the appropriate forum. Where you may find threads of similar issues, you may find it useful, to ask a question on them (irrespective of how old they may be), or else start a new thread.
I have found that it is the help from others here on CF that is it's strength. And you end up learning so much that you can become more proficient.

im not saying that, i agree with you. I stated very clearly, that this is a non profit project. I am just looking for 1 or 2 ppl with some experience and spare time on their hands that can help out a bit with the project. I know theres rules and things, but its not like im offering money that i aint gonna cough up. im not offering ANY, i dont get paid either. I dont see what the big deal about this is :S

The big deal is Rule Number 1 is being broken here. You aren't offering any money.
Your Offer must be paid in nature, in clear monetary form. For example: "Willing to pay $300 for completion of project, or $20/ hour.

 There are many ways you can find help like the kind you want. One of them is posting notes for help in college boards (coding forums is not like that). I found that very knowledgeable individuals help you finish your projects here, but they will not code anything for you. You must do your own work, start a thread and get answers to FINISH your code. And, yes, I asked questions and found very good responses to finish my projects.

From your perspective, that opinion is understandable. But try to put yourself into other people's boots. This is a forum for paid work offers. Some members here do freelancing gigs (like me), and some do even depend fully on those gigs for their monthly income. If, as a freelancer, you peruse the threads posted here to look for an interesting and rewarding offer, posts like yours are distracting at best, and if they appear repeatedly, they get annoying. Most of the time you have to read the original post closely enough to realize there's no money to be made there. Just a waste of time if you're searching "legitimate" offers.
As I interpret the rules, they serve to cut down the signal-to-noise ratio in this forum. That's also in the interest of those who offer work, because if the forum gets hit with lots of "free" projects, those freelancers doing business work will leave, which makes it more difficult for employers to find qualified workers. At least that's my opinion.
I can understand your frustration, and currently there is no dedicated collaborations forum. But you could always write an email to the moderators and ask which part of codingforums would be the most appropriate place for your request.

The O/P has apparently found the help he needs over in the Javascript Forum:
http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=61476
However, he should understand that this forum is clearly marked as Paid Work Offers & For Hire and it is not for us to understand his indescretion of posting a "work for me for free" request, particularly after he was nicely reminded that his request violated the rules and intent of the forum... It's no big deal is no excuse...
