Does anyone know of any free downloadable software or online sites that can embed invisible watermarks in images? Something along the lines of www.digimarc.com, but again, something which is FREE?!! Or maybe some other method that can be done simply using Adobe Photo?

You can do watermarking in Photoshop. but you would still need to buy the plugin from Digimarc. It's quite sophisticated technology, hence why it's not free. As far as I know, there isn't a freeware alternative.

I don't know how digimarc works...but I just read of a program that marks your image and then can follow it wherever it's displayed on the web. Maybe that's digimarc...:D

It might be the same thing. Digimarc embeds an invisible mark - which can be a logo or some text - into normal image files like GIF and JPG. When the file is copied around the mark remains intact; only the right software can remove it.

Such as photoshop. Even without the digimarc plugin you should be able to view the mark in PS, but you would need the plugin to create, edit or remove them.

Yup, that's what I'm talking about. If you look at the invisible watermarking algorithm used to do this, it doesn't seem ALL that complex. It's just their internet spidering features that seem to justify the subscription cost. However, I could do without that. I simply want some way to insert invisible watermarks. I've googled for other methods to do it, but I only come up with other Digimarc-like companies which all charge fees. I'm surprised no one has came up with a free downloadable shareware version. Does ANYONE on this forum know about one???

You can use picture shark and it's freeware. You can change the visibility of the mark but it saves it as a complete image.
Example:http://www.freewebs.com/dhcs/index.html
goto the Graphics Magic section for free backgrounds the ones that are not free have been watermarked. So you initially have 2 images one with one without.
