windows is recognising my mp3 player as a 'hard disk' not as a 'removable device storage' thing.
and wmp10 wont talk to it

how can i fix this

What OS are you using? Did it auto install or you had to supply the driver disk when you first plugged it in?

Windows XP.
Windows automatically installed the driver for me.

Does it give you the unplug/eject hardware icon on the system tray? If it does, then it sees it as removable media. If not, you might have to contact the guys who manufactured your mp3 player. What make is it?

PS- You might also want to check the behaviour on a friends Pc.

yes, it does.
But - Windows calls it a 'Local Disk' in 'My Computer' and it appears in 'Disk Management'

it doesn't make sense if it has the add/remove thing?

Hrm....sounds like a problem with the actual mp3 player...why not just manually copy songs to the mp3 player instead of doing it through WMP?

because my songs keep changing and its hard to keep track of which ones i have / have not got on there

is there a good alternative sycning program that will just mirrior the folder on my PC and the device?
