hi im having problems posting a form once you click on submit. It goes to my email server as an attachment & when you try to open the attachment it wont let you as it is a (.att file) which i have never heard of!
Please does anyone know what im doing wrong!? thanks
What mechanism are you using to send the email?
I had a similar problem recently - with PHP's mail() funtion. I was sending via the mail() function with content-type set to multipart/mixed (which causes some mail clients to go AWOL if all you're sending is plain text). I found that the safest content-type to use is text/plain. If you want to send pretty html-formatted emails, then I expect that a content-type of text/html would probably be ok. But then some archaic mail clients won't support this - also there are some mail clients which seem to be intentionally awkward! (AOL is one of them) - which brings me back round to the conclusion that text/plain is the safest way to send an email!
I hope that helps!
Additional info for you:
If you want to know about MIME types (which is specified in the Content-type part of you HTML or email header), have a look here (http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/) (There are lots and lots of types! Most of them I have never heard of and will probably never need to use! I should think that most of them would also cause your bog-standard mail client to throw a wobbly ...).
