View Full Version : True horizontal menus in CSS

Does anyone know of any examples of a true horizontal menu system done in CSS?

Typically what I see labelled as "horizontal" is something like this:

Menu1
#####menu1A
#####menu1B
##########Menu1B1
##########Menu1B2

What I would like to do would be:

Menu1
Menu1A Menu1B Menu1C Menu1D
Menu1B1 Menu1B2

I'm going to have to learn a lot of CSS, but I'd like to know if this is possible. I took a look at several other sites I found mentioned here:

http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/index.htm

http://www.karlnelson.net/nestedlists/

http://www.listulike.com/generator/?PHPSESSID=66825c4a762b8838dfe5f6a25e4e448b

But i haven't seen anything like what I'm asking.
Maybe this is something I can control with Iframes? I'll have 8 top level menues, each will have 6 sub menus, so that when you click on a top level menu the choices for the submenu are displayed horizontally across teh page.

TIA

Is this (http://www.alistapart.com/articles/complexdynamiclists/) what you're looking for?

I think he's more on the hunt for something like the Hybrid CSS Dropdowns (http://www.alistapart.com/articles/hybrid/). So, yes, your menu suggestion can very likely be implemented using CSS, with maybe a little help from scripts to overcome browser issues or to add a little user-friendliness.
If you can supply a little more information about how you want the menus to behave, maybe we're able to give more detailed advice.

I'm still waiting on specs, but what you pointed me to will work just fine with a little tweaking on my end. Thank you very much. :)
