Hi CodingForums folk,
We're conducting a research study on "knowledge sharing behavior in virtual communities." As the research is focussing on professional, work-related forums, I thought that this may be a great place to gather some data. There is a prize incentive: one 512MB iPod Shuffle which will be awarded to a randomly selected participant.
If you have time to fill up the questionnaire, we'd appreciate it. If this is not a good place for what we needs, we would appreciate direction to more appropriate professional virtual forums.
The questionnaire is at the following url:

Thanks!
Vita

Hi,
I would like to restate the purpose of the research.
I am doing research about knowledge sharing behavior in virtual
communities. The research is to discover what influences people in
spending time and effort to answer questions or in providing what they
know in virtual community. People share information, words,
knowledge, stories or photos in virtual community. It is a voluntary
and respectable behavior, which might not easily be found in the real
world. I have participated in virtual communities from news letter
settings to web settings (such as Code Guru). I appreciate people's
sharing and helping without any feedback. This is my original
motivation to this research.
When I was programming a database-related system, I learned a lot from
forums and news groups. That's the reason I chose professional
programming forums to be my sample for the research. The sample is
focused on people in related forums with programming skills. Hence,
could you please kindly answer the questionnaire and help to complete
this research? Also, if you have friends or someone you know who
might want to participate, please send this letter to invite them to
answer the questionnaire. Many thanks.

Sincerely,
Vita

Oh! What a great virual community ! ;)
No doubt, the CF consists of countless number of kind-hearted IT Masters and professionals. :p
I'd rather say the CF is the best of All Forums on the web.

Who won the iPod?

I don't think anyone did really. I think it was all just a gimmick to get people to take the surveys hence why I didn't take it in the first place. We'll find out if they ever come back.

Yeah probably...well it only look like 2 mins of my time so I don't mind ;)

It asked quite a bit of personal info, like your home address, phone number etc..., and I don't even know if the info was secure or not.
Actually I won the Ipod, it came last friday. :D

Well what do you know. I stand corrected.
Ok, so I didn't ACTUALLY win it, yet. Not even a little. In all reality it was probably a scammer who will now steal my identity and spend all $43 I have to my name....
Anyway, you don't stand corrected. I just felt like typing and giving someone a hard time. Boredom + A.D.D. = Awesome!!!
