I have developed an intranet site for a comapny, and they wish to know the number of visitors thay are having to the site. It has been suggested that we dont place the script on the home page, as it is set as the default on every client pc. It is proposed to put the script on a selection of pages, to give a better representation of how many visitors the site is receiving, does anyone have any suggestions please?

Cheers

The best way to determine the number of actual visitors and which pages they visited is to explore the server logs, which on an Intranet should be available as well. There's a number of packages that can derive statistics out of these server logs; do a Google for "site statistics" and you'll find plenty, even free (GNU GPL) ones.
