hi,
what is the best way to write a website and have it look its best on the different resolutions of monitors for example 640 X 480 and 1024 X 768?

liquid layout = layout based upon percentage values not absolute.

Example:

<table width="100%">
<tr>
<td height="100%" width="60%">&nbsp;</td>
<td height="100%" width="40%">&nbsp;</td>
</tr>
</table>


What i would suggest is you code your site to be an absolute width of 800px.
can never go wrong with an 800 wide site.

You have to account for the scrollbar. 770px Seems to be okay that is of course with out any left or right margins.
