Here (http://lantzvillecomputers.ca/uploads/upload2/Uploads/goldImg_screnShot.gif) is a link to a screen shot of my website, can't show the actual site because the images and links aren't uploaded yet. Anyway, I've been in a pickle thinking of what type of background to have instead of the boring squares. I was thinking rock floor looking thing but I'm not sure what will look good. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I reckon the squares are OK.
When you use brickwork, stonework, water, etc, it reeks of the free web page hosting offered by sites like Angelfire where you can select from a load of premade backgrounds.
Unless it really adds to it i wouldnt bother, the squares IMO are enough.
Also... if that image is the actual size of your site, i reckon it may be too large, unless its done in %s and readjusts to browser window size. Coz I had to close my FAVOURITES window to see it, and i also have to scroll down to see the USERNAME, PASSWORD and LOGIN links! And I have a bigish screen! :D

Thank for the input, and yes that is the real size of the screen, but I have stylesheets for every screen resolution and so if you visit the site in a different resolution it will shrink to the size. The screen shot is so big because I am in 1280 by 1024 so that could be why =)

Don't mean to be rude, but there is an "Edit" button
On a more positive note, I think the background looks nice, it fits your site quite nicely

I think I need to give more depth to my site, what would the best way to add shadows? Should I like have a black wavy looking thing and make it semi-transparent? Or does it look ok without shadows?
