Is there a way to delete a partition so that instead of it being unallocated it becomes part of the c drive again?

I didn't know Norton had developed a partitioning software. I personally use Powerquest Partition Magic. They've been around for a long time ... and they've never failed me.
Hey, just found out Norton has taken over Powerquest. Didn't know that before.

Partition Magic is the best one I've ever used...fast and reliable. ;)

If you have Win xp you can do it from there. Start/control panel/admin tools/computer management/Storage (left hand pain) Disk management (local)in the right hand panel. Click on that and look at what you have and what you want to change. Needs a reboot to take effect.

I hope this helps
