Yeah, that's right. Why do I have to download the whole application each time an update comes out? why don't they just provide patches which will update the present one like IE and some instant messengers?

I think cuz its easier to make one big one with the updates that way people can download the full version also if they already dont have it, just saves time and money I would think. I would like to know what updates they are doing though just for my reference.

I think it saves time and money....as Aero said. It enables people to get the latest version. However, I would like it if firefox just updated the bits that needed updating in a release. But the whole setup file is only 4.7MB whereas IE is a lot bigger....so it makes sense to patch IE when you can have a total reinstall of Firefox.

David said IE was 86MB I think...

Full downloaded version is I think....but if you download Microsoft's IE6 installer which is around 358kb, it will only download the IE components you need.

Actually I think it is more of a "we need a method of letting everyone update their browser when we release a new version and we need something yesterday." I hope in future releases they will include a better updater but at least in the short-term they can get people to update their browser and they don't have to uninstall the old first, lol.

I saw that when I used the updates and chose for them to install automatically, the older versions remain in my add/removes programs area. I uninstall the previous one, save the new version and then install manual. Your settings aren't lost when you uninstall the older versions. Chris see if the older versions are still in your add/remove programs area, uninstall any older versions and reinstall the newer one manually. That may fix your problem.
