Need a Book on Basic Programming Please

Hello,

I am new to this forum and wondered if any of you would be so kind as to point me in the right direction of a good book that covers Basic no language specific programing. My job will soon involve me having to learn JavaScript, C# and VB but in the mean time I would like to try and get a good understanding of programing basics.

no longer being a beginner, I'm no longer clued up about what's hor or not, but the reviews on Amazon should help the most.
