i need help with databases

Hi

I need to set up a html page that has a search field which will search a database for either a keyword or field.

the problem is that I have never built a database or search function.

Is there anyone who can help me out or point me in the right direction.

I am not saying it is impossible to access a database using HTML alone, but it is not advised.

If you are wanting to search a database using a web language, I suggest either ASP or PHP. Using either of these languages, you can access many types of databases (eg: MySql and Microsoft Access).

Once you have decided on a database platform and a language to code in, come back and I will help you from there.
