I just bombarded http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/waffen/violent-smiley-017.gif my computer with virus and spyware scans and stuff (Ad-Aware, Spybot search and destroy, and System Mechanic scans and inprovements) and I think my computer is free http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/grinser/grinning-smiley-024.gif of all harmful and unneeded stuff, but I still feel like I need to improve more, so what do I do next? Any suggestions? http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/fragend/confused-smiley-012.gif

Have you used Norton utilities to remove dodgy registry keys and hijackthis to remove certain dodgy registry keys and BHO references? Also take stuff out of your startup so that they dont run when your computer starts etc etc.

Give it a good hard defrag with Diskeeper;)

Well my Norton is old and all screwed up http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/traurig/sad-smiley-043.gif and im now downloading hijackthis. I gave it a defrag with system mechanic http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/starwars/star-wars-smiley-023.gif, and so far the hard drive is 30 outta 40 gig full http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/sauer/angry-smiley-035.gif.

I LOVE these smielies (I know, I know, people will get ticked off if I keep using them, but its so fun!)

LoL! Norton's Antivirus is rubbish IMO. Norton Utilities is helpful sometimes....My system toolkit is full of freeware:p

...is just about all of it...there are a lot of AIM/ICQ items there, which you might want to think about removing. Also, if you look through the list there, there is a huge amount of SYMANTEC stuff.....and they take a large amount of RAM up. I personally only have Systemworks now, with everything that it tries to run at startup disabled.

Also, there are several 'extra button' entries there, which you might want, you might not..so I didn't put them in the list above. The list above is the ones I would remove first. Hijackthis usually makes a backup anyway, and sticks a folder called 'backup' on your desktop;)

http://www.anti-spy.info/process/lbbho.dll.html gives some info on lbbho.dll.

How much RAM do you have installed?

HTH:)

Jamie.

The Hack and Delete thing is really disk cleaner (kind of likke disk cleanup), I renamed it to make it sound "cool". I think I have 2.39GHz, 256MB RAM.

JamieR
04-10-2005, 02:00 AM
lol ok....yew need more RAM:p - I have a gig in my 700mhz athlon desktop:eek:!

As for disk cleaner, is that freeware? I heard of something a while back, but I can't remember the exact name. It was reputed as being rubbish.

royall
04-10-2005, 02:05 AM
Yes, its freeware from the site that brought you Grabzilla, and about how much does RAM cost these days? Im guessing I have to quadduple the amout of RAM I have.

JamieR
04-10-2005, 02:13 AM
RAM is pretty cheap......you can get a extra 256MB stick of PC3200 on ebay for around 30. btw, build your own computer! then you get the spec you want and gain technical knowledge:)

royall
04-10-2005, 03:30 AM
I can't build by own cause my mother is actually buying it for a combination B-day present and if I get good grades in school.

JamieR

o right...in that case people like Dell do cheapish systems which are upgradable...but the default "Dell" cases they come in are horridddd!:D
