Various Programmers and Graphics Designers Neededcsaguy 04-06-2005, 03:56 AM I am in need of programmers and graphics designers to help me with an online game project. It is a full graphics 2-D multi-player rpg. You must have adequate knowledge and some previous experience. Please reply. evo 04-06-2005, 09:14 AM What kind of prices/design packages/hours are we looking at? I may be interested. As for experience, I've done print and animation/video editing for o2, mercedes-benz, lucazade, and other blue-chip clients. rlemon 04-06-2005, 04:16 PM What languages / Programs do you need programmers/fabricators for csaguy 04-06-2005, 04:49 PM Actually I was hoping to get a few people into a chat conference so I could discuss it all with them at one time. Honestly I am not sure what type of programmers I would need. It will be 2-D graphics, similar to the style used on the sega genesis. It will be an in depth rpg, constantly growing always expanding. I would probably need whoever does this to stay on part time to keep it running. Prices are going to be odd, as I have no money until this gets completed and people join it. Whoever helps with this I would hope they could do it for free until it is done, than each person who helped will get a percentage of the profits. generous percentages. thanks again. HandGems 04-06-2005, 07:48 PM Why would anyone WANT to join your website for a price when they can play and join FREE RPG websites like RUNESCAPE and other similar sites? How old are you? 12? 13? I think you don't have enough real-world experience to know what you are getting yourself into. -Ed- csaguy 04-06-2005, 09:37 PM Sorry, but I think you responded before knowing all the facts. And yes games like runescape are fun, they are not nearly to the scale or dimensions, or even graphics I am considering. With the game I am trying to have created, they can play for free. The entire game. They pay for a better account. You pay for extra features. but you can fully enjoy the game as it is. Now please, do not respond with speculation before you have all the facts. rlemon 04-06-2005, 09:57 PM If you really want people to help you with this game, I suggest making it an open source project. Create a website about the game with some mock drawings and some ideas about how the game will work. Then if you can get some people together to build up a framework the 'public' will do the rest. Look at how mozilla currently works. now, if this is a web-based game there are security problems with open source... so, with that said, keep your developers happy, and give them good accounts in the game, (like a GM). csaguy 04-07-2005, 01:57 AM So would you be willing to help me? It will be very challenging. I guarentee. rlemon 04-07-2005, 02:13 AM get your open chat going (i suggest irc, it's easiest) lemmy know and we'll see evo 04-07-2005, 08:48 AM This forum is only for paid requests. Your proposal is to volunteer and get paid in the event that it may be successful. chilipie 04-07-2005, 10:23 AM There have been too many posts like this lately, IMHO. There are so many people who think "Oh, I've got a great idea, why don't I get people to make it for me!" The fact is, that if your project falls through it's the programmers/designers that suffer the most. It's a big gamble to take, pouring hours of your time into a game that might never make any decent sums of money. Just my $0.02 ;) . warhammerdude20 04-07-2005, 08:02 PM LOL!!!! http://comic.gamedev.net/past.asp?comicid=12 This has been happening in gamedev a lot... rlemon 04-07-2005, 09:13 PM LOL!!!! http://comic.gamedev.net/past.asp?comicid=12 This has been happening in gamedev a lot...
