I'm guessing you have the buisness version on cogeco internet.

Taken from terms of service:

You are responsible for any misuse of the Services that you have contracted for, even if the inappropriate activity was committed by a friend, family member, guest, employee or customer with access to your account. In other words if someone uploads something offensive, you'll be held responsible.

No, I do not.

I have a normal connection, and I am running my own server. I pay for the internet, I am allowed to run a server that is up 24/7 with it.

If I ran any type of site, I don't think cogeco could tell me to stop. Seeing how this is what I am paying for.

Either way, I am not going to run that type of host. I am only hosting a small amount of people, and for any reason I don't like it, I can remove it off my server.

I wanna share this, and if people abuse it, I will just be more mindfull.

Testing of scripts or a personal homepage is fine. I am not hosting companies or ware sites. Anything Illegal to begin with will be taken down or not even let up to begin with.

I know how far I can go, and nothing will be streached for anyone.


I just hope I am helpful to anyone that really needs something like this. I know I would of loved ot have my own server or a server like this being a host for me to learn asp. Before the forums, and before I knew of brinkster or anything else.
If you do not want to use this, don't. I just want to share it with people that has respect for the internet.

Thank you, WA, I will try to be safe with it. I know stuff will happen, but I'm since i will monitor this constantly, I will make sure of stuff.
Maybe I'll get a friend to help me look after this too.

I should be able to support all ASP. Except writing to a text file, I am not sure why the server doesn't allow this. I am still trying to figure that out. It would work just fine without the security patch, but common.

Depending on the ammount of people, it should either 500mb down to 200mb. Nothing lower.

The uploading will be with FTP, you'll get your own account.

This is a basic server off my personal computer, I have not seen and problems with all the sites i run, and if anyone else wanted to use my computer to run their sites or test their scripts, I will allow them. But I am going to make sure I only accept certain people. I will not make accounts at random for anyone.

There are no ads your site is as much as you add on to it. All I will do is put up a button if anyone wants to donate towards new computer parts, a new faster processor, more ram and ASP commponents that people request.

I'm current making a web dev. site which I'd have tutorials and scripts and stuff would I be elligable?

Also 500mb - 200mb is way more then I expected you to be offering, you seem to be an extremely giving person considering that this all out of the kindness of your heart....:thumbsup:

And yes, if that is what you are doing, you will probibly be picked to be up on the server.

The amount of space I offer is acually a joke. You still get 200+ space, but my offer is for people's eyes. I am letting people use my space, and even I have noticed alot of my sites never even make it up to 50 mb, pictures and all... But the amount of people I will have and the types of sites I will only allow will probobly not make it past 50mb each. But for any reason you need to go up to 200mb or so, I wouldn't mind at all. If I really like getting into something like this, I will spend more money on a bigger hd and have more people. But It will still all be looked over. I want to make sure the server stays clean, fast and up. I don't want any problems with other people or that.

My rules and such will be added too over time, and as I encounter people and their problems the better the server will become. And a big rule that effects peoples minds might be Bandwidth limitation. I will only set a limitation if i need too, and only for people i think will try to abuse my offer. You might get a small limmit of bandwidth when you first start, and that is to protect myself from people that abuse. Alot of other people, and their good looking applications would join with no resctritions if i see what types of sites they are making, I bet I could find out the amount of pople that go to sites like those.

And last thing i will mention today is illegal things.

I will not accept anything illegal nor pornographic. I know some freindly sites might do something funny like that, and I don't care, but nothing fully poronographic will be accpeted.
No warez, no mass mp3 lists, no storage for others to constantly download. (storage for yourself only)

I hope i didn't make a mistake in there, forgive spelling and grammer, I seem to be too busy to fix it right now.

Oh, and donations are NOT manditory, you only donant on your own free will, I will not let people join and use unwanted sites just because they will offer to donante once or twice. All I will say is if you donant, you are only helping your self and your site. You are also helping me provide it, and keep it free. :)

I will only accpet donations because I can make the computer go faster. You can not join my server out of bribery...

I think I am going to be ok for now, all I need to do is get my new HD installed when it comes in about a week.
Then I will reinstall my servers and such, then I will be UP and Ready :)

Another thing I will stress is that when people do sign up and get an account on the server, I want people to keep back ups of all their work on their own computer. I don't want to be blamed if something bad happends to the files, such as someone discovering your password by either a guess or you told them, and they changed small things to everything.

I will not make back ups for you because hd space will slowly vanish. :)
