How much ram you got installed? Also remove any adware/spyware/trojans and crap that doesnt need to be on your pc.

Take unneeded processes out of your startup so they wont be loaded when your PC starts.

Anything Norton is well known as being memory-hoggers. The Auto protect feature which comes with Norton Anti virus is a huge memory hog. AVG anti virus doesn't use as much RAM.

I would remove Norton Antivirus from your computer altogether personally.

I would install more ram to be honest, but 256 is ok for windows to run smoothly. Have you removed all adware/syware/worms and malware from your pc?

erm you can stop all the associated processes from the task manager, but I dont think NAV is worth having installed to be honest.

No problem..were all here to help

I would go about installing atlest 512MB of ram, as that is most likely to solve your problems.

Also, what game are you playing? Try decreasing the settings to decrease the load on your computer.

True..but the spec of his computer might not be the newest....more ram would increase performance.

Yay! my birthday:D

Do the following:

1. Disk Cleanup
2. Disk Defragmenter
3. Uninstall and delete unneeded files, folders, and programs
4. Run scans constantly for spyware and viruses
5. Don't have more than three or four apps. running at once.
6. Quit programs and apps. you dont need open, such as download managers and IM icons in the taskbar
7. Use Ctrl + Alt + Delete and end the prosseses you know you dont need open
8. Close your internet connection when you are not using the internet
9. Get more RAM
10. Don't use Windows Movie Maker :D

I would say all of those are relevant, but how would using Disk cleanup speed up your computer? that just removes unnecessary crap like temp internet files from IEvil etc...

Also remove any unwanted processes from starting when the pc starts by using Mike Lin's Startup control panel or msconfig. What the heck would movemk.exe (windows movie maker) have on the speed or performance of the pc?

Diskeeper 9 pro is included in my toolkit when I get called round to client's houses to look at sick PCs;)

Also dont use crap like norton anti virus:D.

Windows Movie Maker freezes up the computer. Every time I work w/ it it lags and freezes every 20 seconds.

P.S. Check out my funny (or not) new sig! :D

Dude....that would only happen if you have either dodgy or a low amount of ram..

Ooh..I'm 15:eek:

Use the Windows Classic theme, it uses far less RAM, as the .bmps are small (.bmp! Enter 3D M$)

hmm.....I still say get more ram and remove stuff like NAV..which is horrid:D
