Spam Assassin / Spam filtering

Anybody know anything about using this (these)? My host has a few options for dealing with spam but I have limited understanding and the host support is weak at best with in depth technical issues. I've tried rerouting but the originator of one type of spam I'm getting seems to be using random accounts to send.

I wish I could help you but I'm in a very similar position. My has only been around for a month and next to nobody knows the page even exists because I'm still hard at work costructing the site and I've got span coming out of my ears....
