I was wondering if anyone had experience in setting up a raid 0 on their mb? I am not sure what hard drives to get. I want to get a ATA 133 w/2mb buffer (Maxtor) but there are some ATA 100 w/8mb buffer(Western Digital). Does anyone know which I will get the best performance from?
Thanks in Advance...

Try PC Magazine's Lab it usually has nice benchmark stats on it ;)

You'd be better off getting the ATA 100 drive with the 8meg buffer. From what I've read at places like Anandtech (http://www.anandtech.com) there isn't too much performance gain from ATA 100 to ATA 133. The larger data buffer will help you the most.
How many of these hard drives are you going to use? 2?

I would recomend against RAID0, unless you do lots of uncompressed video edting, or music edting. Otherwise the risks outweight the benifits. My current mobo supports a 8 disk RAID array if I really wanted to get 8 HD's and use them, that would be fast but for most uses I wouldn't notice any difference between that and the 80GB 8meg cache drive that is in there now.
The only type of RAID that I have really concidered running is RAID5, because you get both speed and reliablity, but the hardware accelerated cards that support it are expensive...

I went ahead with the RAID0. I figure after I lose a drive a couple of times I will get rid of it.:D
