Hello, Im looking for a laptop to design websites with. Ive never used a laptop, or even seen one. Always been on the PC by Dell for the past 7 years. I know RAM is a biggy when looking for a computer for design. But whats a good comapny, good set up, decent price range (To about $2500)? My friend has adviced Alien Ware, but Ive always thought they were gaming, not work. Is it possible to have a laptop with a wireless adapter as well as a connection for a LAN? Id like a laptop because they are portable, easy to store.

Dell makes good laptops. And for work yes, CPU and RAM are important. I believe wireless and hardwire nic's are standard now. Alien ware is mainly for gaming, they are optimized that way. Depeneding on what sort of website work you are doing you might also pay attention to better vid cards and such. Also you should look at weight, as you may be moving around alot and need it to be lighter.

anyway, i don't have a laptop (hell, i don't even have a half decent desktop) but my dad and step dad have very nice sony vaios. with 1600*1200 screen res (yes i know, i didn't believe it either at first) and thy run nicely. not to shure how they do with ram, but otherwise they are pretty no-nonsense gets the job doen well computers

Yeh you can have that, I'm assuming you mean wired and wireless lan - well I have that on my laptop:)

Alienware are very good, and build some excellent gaming machines. However, if you are going to be doing web design work and stuff on it, you'd need a decent graphics card, and screen resolution.

I have a windows laptop - my bad, becuase now I want a Apple Powerbook and dont have the cash:mad:.

I say get a Apple laptop, either a iBook or a Powerbook. However, if you are familiar with windows rather than mac, then get a windows laptop. Only thing is, if you would be using a laptop for gaming, then apples aren't exactly the best because most of the games out are for PC rather than mac.

Apple Powerbooks are powerful, fast and fairly light with a decent battery life, btw.

I wouldn't call 2.5-3 hours of battery life under moderate usage particularly decent at all. But they are powerful, fast, light, etc.

Still better than mine, when it is set to the "always on" power mode, it drains the battery in 90 minutes :o . Still, I'm not that much of a mobile user as I have it on AC power most of the time.
