Im trying to create a treeview that allows me to iterate through a folder contents , like the one in windows explorer.Given a folder name the function should create a parent node for each subfolder and children nodes for the files in the subfolder.Any assistance will be highly appreciated

Right, the system treeview is separate from the object used to populate it (though, it can store objects). Windows has at least three API's which can be scripted to get directory items, and they all work a bit differently. What do you want to do with the tree's items?

Nevermind my question.
If relevant, info about the API objects (File System Object, Windows Shell and Controls, and Windows Management Instrumentation) are available from Microsoft, as are examples of ActiveX control usage (such as one entitled "Using the TreeView Control").
