i made a new layout with css today. i'm not completely done, but the main design of it is set. it looks great in firefox, but i just opened it in internet explorer and it's a mess. usually i can figure out the problem if there's a few kinks, but it looks pretty messed up and i don't even know where to start to fix it.

here's the link:
www.freewebs.com/icanstay/testss.html (http://www.freewebs.com/icanstay/testss.html)

if you have firefox view it in that to see what i intended it to look like.

any help on how to make it display correctly in internet explorer would be awesome. thanks!

Hi there icanstay,

and welcome to these forums. :D

The basic cause of your problem was the lack of a DOCTYPE. :(
This causes IE to render the code in quirk's mode.

Here is the code with amendments highlighted...

does this make it look any different the wallflowers sounded really great tonight. jakob dylan
is hot. ok, i said it. the end. over it. but no, they were really really good. i even got into the songs
i didn't know (which is usually hard for me to do). they're keyboardist...wow. awesome. and i liked
how they played the first half of "one headlight" acoustic with just jakob and the keys, then the
<a href="http://">whole band came in</a> about halfway through. nice spin on a song that's been
played a billion times. i saw 2637623442 people there. i totally thought these two guys that ran into
each other right by me were going to get into a fight, but one of them turned out to be noah. and he
wasn't drunk, he knew the guy. whatever. talked to jamie for a bit after the show. she was surprised
that i came by myself. LOL i was like, "well, ::indicates the room at large:: i figured i'd run into a
billion people i knew anyway." mike, noah and i talked myspace. really...are we that nerdy? yes. we
are. it's kinda sad.
</p><p>
my driveway is now officially un-ghetto. why? because today i bought a 2000 dark green nissan
xterra. it is beautiful. i love it. and i'm paying for it. i'll post pictures when i take them (buying a car
and then having to go straight to work is no fun at all). limbeck at bostons tonight. awesome. i'd only
heard limbeck once before at the lake, but i completely loved them. so much so that i bought a cd
using coins because i didn't have enough cash left. nice. brit, heather and i got mad at the drunk
chad (not to be redundant or anything) that looked like napoleon dynamite because the guy couldn't
seem to find a more polite way to move through the crowd than leading with his shoulder and
walking in the direction he intended...whether someone was standing in the way or not.
</p><p>
speaking of drunk people... megan and kahlen were wasted. so much so that kahlen humped my
new car. nice. and in other random news, i finally became reaquianted with this girl, amy sanchez, f
rom high school that i played soccer with. i'd seen her at some hero factor shows recently and i think
she's dating ryan williams, but i wasn't sure if it was her so i didn't say anything. anyway. she was like
"do you remember andrea fiorentine? well she and i are trying to get an indoor soccer team together.
would you like to play?" to which i totally said yes because i was just wishing on sunday that there
was an indoor league i could join. off to bed with me. work calls at 10am.
</p><p>
what can i say about today. what an absolutely glorious day. it was practically HOT outside. i woke up
and mom, dad and i looked at another xterra. (this could be the one.) then brit called and i met her at
the 81st zios so i could follow her to chandler park. 75 was down to one lane and i felt like i was in
another city. one does not get stuck in traffic at 4:10p on a saturday in tulsa. we ended up taking a very
scenic route due to the construction, but it was marvelous. it included trips down riverside and brookside.
smitty's deck was so full one might've thought that ben was playing. we drove by the river's edge bistro
and it was PACKED! it was so amazing. all along the river people were out and about exercising, walking
their dog, playing with their kids. it was so wonderful. i hope tulsa becomes more like that more often.
we finally made it to chandler park and met up with six, miranda, and ... the guy i kept almost-hitting with
the frisbee. it was so beautiful outside and we played frisbee golf, had dp-in-a-can, and had a marvelous time.
