VPN Speed

im sure it's probably a stupid question - but im going to ask it anyway.

if i download something from a webserver, it will be something like 120KB/s but if i download off it thru VPN, it gives me 180KB/s

why?

You are bypassing the server and all of the security and protection of that server. The information is coming directly to you just like being on a physical LAN.
