Need a serverside timer/redirect script

On September 11 CommemorateWTC.com (http://commemoratewtc.com) will be closing down the entire site for three minutes at 8:46am EDT and redirecting via .htaccess to a special presentation on the .org domain (as discussed Here (http://commemoratewtc.org/developer/forum/viewthread.php?tid=259) and Here (http://llamasery.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=395)). Is there a way we can automate the process so .htaccess is automatically replaced by the server?

The thing is, a bunch of people are also closing down their sites that day and redirecting to CWTC using either homepage redirects or .htaccess, and to pull this off seamlessly is quite a challenge. The site will be on a co-located server by the time this happens, incidentally.

Any advice is appreciated.

You can set a script to run via crontab at a pre-determined date and time , the script (PHP/PERL/whatever) would simply replace your .htaccess with a new version, so Q is do you have the ability to run CRON jobs on your system?

Sorry for the response delay. Yes, we can setup CRON jobs on both servers easily. I just don't know what they need to be.
