Im creating a website, using css, and I want to make a page , where i have a menu on the left side, and then all the main page info can go in the middle. I have a problem though. If i click a link on my left menu bar, then how would i get it so when the info in the middle loads, the menu bar stays to the left?

In the past I have used frames so the left side is static, but this time im wanting to create a site without frames or tables. What are my options?

If I understant correctly, you want to simulate a frameset?

If so, you can't entirely. The menu WILL load again.

well if your server is able to use server side includes, then you may get a similar effect to what you want, these includes will load faster and look as if they never moved, ur other option is to make the css and the menu and what not and for your content area use an iframe

iframes aren't supported by netscape 4 and below, the current version of netscape is around 7.02

Well...I want something vaguely similar to this website http://www.webnauts.net/usability-training.html You see where that page has the links to the left?

I've heard you can use php includes on a page, but i get a bit stuck if i havent got an example set out in front of me.

Im not entirely sure if the server im on supports SSI. Everything is so complicating!

I the link you gave, the menu to the left reloads each time a link is clicked. Just so you know.
