Hello all. I am fairly new at this web creation business and have recently set up a new site dedicated to video games.

I would appreciate any and all comments/suggestions on how to make the site more appealing.

Thank you!

It looks alright, I quite like the design. Not a fan of the colour scheme though. The header image looks a bit strange, it seems to get clipped off to harshly at the sides and bottom. Also you appear to have used tables to position some images and links.

Your code looks nice and easy to read which is always good, but it completely fails to validate - 186 errors! That's a lot.

Sort out the header image and validate your code and it will be a lot better.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am working on the code validation errors.

Slow going since this site is based on the GENU 2.1 content management software, but I'll get there eventually!

Thanks again!

Well IMO the design is nice and the header is nice also. But in IE it is REALLY scrunched like some News Headline is overlapping Latest Patches. It is very scrunched like I said. Hope that helps!

Well, all the validation errors should be fixed plus the layout. It should stretch to whatever size your browser is now.

Thanks!

line 6 column 1 - Warning: <link> attribute "href" lacks valueThat page also has very little in the way of semantics, and uses inline styles everywhere.

Looks much better now, but it seems the image to the left of your big header is cut off?

At first glance, it looks cluttered. There are quite alot of text all over the place. Perhaps a bit more images or white space between each paragraph and/or the columns might make it more visual-comfortable. Maybe its my browser.

I think the others already pointed out the imperfections coding-wise, so I just thought I'll say what I think about visual-wise.

Modified a few more things.

See what you think.

Thanks!

I was going to post something this morning but had a game to watch.

I didn't really like the little EOG logo that was originally at the top left of your banner. It's gone now which looks better to me. I think I like the old banner than this opne though.

One thing that gets me is how the banner stops when the screen is resized down. it stops at the end of the left columns end. I haven't looked but how does that look at 800x600?

I tested in in 800x600 and it's still centered. I think the banner extends to the left more with black background so that could be why it stops. Will have to fix that.

Thanks!

When looking at the code, I feel like I've gone back to 1998. Well done.

Well, the code was written by the guys at igamingcms.com. I'm in the process of going thru and validating it all.

nice design, but the code needs serious work:D - CSS is far better for website layouts than tables btw.

Third Review on this one :) :
I really like the design, and the header is a lot better now. One thing I noticed is in IE, the titles like "Latest News" and "Main Menu" are centered, but in FF 1.02, they are left aligned.

No, it's open source and hasn't been updated in awhile. They are working on an updated version of it. Until then, I'll plow thru the code and get it all validated.
